Once you have taken all three classes in your age group rotation, you have the prerequisites to sign up for one of our Enrichment Classes!

 

Playmaking

Grades 5-8

Prerequisite: Completion of one age group rotation.Working as an ensemble, students will immerse themselves in the process of taking a theatrical sketch from page to stage. Students will create original works through improvisation, character development, and dialogue.

New! Glee! Jr.

Grades 6-8

Prerequisite: Completion of one age group rotation. Who says Glee is just for older students? We think middle school students should have the chance to sharpen their singing and dancing skills in a class of their own! Join your friends and work on great numbers from the hit show and today’s greatest songs.

From Page to Stage!

Kindergarten

This class will bring wonderful stories to life! Each week will feature a new story and students will explore elements of the story through acting, music, movement, and art. Saturdays 9 to 10am

Out of the Box!

Grade 1

Each child will step into a world of make-believe using items from our magic box. Whether performing the noble actions of a knight or dancing like a princess, students will develop skills in listening, speaking, taking turns, and cooperation.

New! MCT Performance Lab

Grades 9-12

Step into our newest place for creative minds. This class will focus on improving performance skills, stage presence and movement while rehearsing for a holiday musical to be performed at the Beardsley Theatre on December 8, 9, and 10, 2011. Students in the spring term will rehearse and perform a non-musical play April 19–21, 2012.

Glee!

Grades 9-Young Adult

No prerequisites for this class.Just like the hit show, Glee! at MCT is back for another season! Come join this great group and learn how to sing and dance to fantastic music. This very popular group will have performance opportunities on December 16–17, 2011 and May 11–12, 2012.Fall classes begin September 19.

Encore Youth Choir

Grades 3-6

By audition only.

Training your singing voice is like exercising your body for a marathon MCT’s Encore will teach students exercises and proper posture as well as breathing techniques, phrasing, projection, and they will work on age-appropriate songs. Encore will perform at the Muskegon Museum of Art for the Festival of Trees in December. Auditions are Saturday, October 8 from 1–3pm and Sunday, October 9 from 2–4pm. Call the MCT office to schedule an audition.

Dance and creative movement are an essential part of performance. We are excited to announce a terrific partnership with Lakeshore Dance Muskegon! Under the direction of Julie Powell, we will be offering two dance classes on Saturday mornings.

Vocal Techniques: Finding Your Voice

Want to know more about projection, inflection, and controlling your voice?  Beneficial to more than just actors, this course is an excellent fit for anyone who is in sales, does public speaking, or just wants to become more confident with his or her vocal communication.
   



 

Registration help and notes to families

Each class is crucial for all students. Missed classes cannot be made up. No financial credit will be given for missed classes.

No visitors are permitted in the classroom. Students feel more comfortable making creative choices without an audience.

Each term will include an observation day where parents and friends are encouraged to sit in on a class.

• Students must pre-register for classes.

• Class size is limited and classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

• Enrollment deadlines are listed on the registration form.

• A late fee of $10 will be added to any registration received after the deadline.

• We reserve the right to cancel any class not filled to minimum enrollment requirements.
